so with that, ellen. >> thanks, doug. i want to make sure everyone can hear me. i have a love-hate relationship with microphones. i want to thank you all for coming today. this is really a wonderful turnout for us. the german marshall fund, for those of you who don't what the fund is, wire a 501 c public charity that was funded as a gift from the german people. we were set up as an american institution to work on a broad mandate of tackling the changes that are faced by advanced industrialized societies. that is a broad mandate. we work with europe and the united states and we work on how europe and the united states can work together on the major world challenges like climate change and economic trade and development, just a number of issues the program i run goes back to the early days in the first 20 years when we were primarily a grantmaker making grants to low-cal practitioners and policymakers. i started this program about four years, five years ago now, i think, time flies, to really bring in members of our marshall memorial fellowship network of which dav

[applause] >> thank you ellen, as you can all tell, we have a wealth of knowledge on stage and now is your time to ask questions of our panelists. >> i would like to know, what degree of cross discipline fertilization to take place between the planning department and public works department and redevelopment agency in planning a project. and for example, and 6th street cordar -- corridor and when the project was finished, it didn't address the pedestrians of that area. and i would like to make sure that those issues are addressed. and if you can share some information with me how you interface with those agencies, i would deeply appreciate it today. >> that's an interesting question, and i think when we started the better's street program, a year ago, we were pretty green about the difficults of the coordination between the different agencies. and in the year or so we have worked on the better streets plans and we are coordinating that work. and you will see that better streets plan is an integrated plan for a number of agencies. and see some idea s that come from that and follow ups

my name is ellen sanchez. i have only three minutes to speak. in trying to connect the injustice, i would note the outcome because a few days ago the director of d.b.i. send an e-mail and i quote, this matter can no longer be appealed and we will be not be doing any further research on this, unquote. the appeal process not completed when she wrote the e-mail. but both planning and building department continues brandishing my rights for public record so they could protest this illegal construction. as of today the planning department did not provide me with all of the public records. commissioner garcia at the last hearing made it very clear that his support and belief of administrator scott sanchez when he asked mr. sanchez, did you provide her with all of the records, and mr. sanchez said yes. mr. sanchez maked many forced statements and thace response and not a forced statement. he has not been involved in the project for over a year and has no knowledge of what happened since but you choose to believe him and not the public. you allowed deput
